Big Bend National Park.

But all is not perfect in paradise. Historically, the Rio Grande floods
its banks seasonally. Now it no longer does because of damming. Water
levels that have been lowered by dams are also threatening the wildlife.
The river itself carries pollutants downstream, further threatening the
fish and native wildlife around the river's ecosystem. Parts of the Rio
Grande have dried up for the first time since 1955, and the low levels
caused by dams are not helping any. Some campsites have disappeared, and
river trips are becoming increasingly difficult when sections of the
river dried up.

It can be said that most people all over the world have either involved themselves in an amortization process in the past or are doing so right now. As such, it could be termed as the leading financial facility available to the people of the world in current times. Though the word ‘amortization’ may not specifically be used, the act of amortization could be very well going on in your own home right now.

In fact, amortization is the financial term for the very common process of paying off a loan. People take loans for several purposes – homes, cars, education, personal reasons, whatever – and when they set out to pay these loans back to the lenders on equated monthly installments, then it is said to be amortization. So, amortization is the tool with which a borrower is gradually snuffing out the loan till it is owed no more.

Calculating the amount of payments on a mortgage is a very simple task to do. Any borrower could calculate this amount with the slightest amount of mathematical skills. Suppose a home was bought for $150,000 and the person put down a deposit of $20,000. In that case, an amount of $130,000 is still owed. Consider the rate of interest to be 7% and the loan to be borrowed over a thirty year period. In that case, the amount of $130,000 divided by 30 plus the interest at the rate of 7% comes to something like $865. This would be considered to the monthly payment over the period of amortization.

With all amortization payments, the initial payments will have a higher proportion of the interests. However, amortization payments are not interest-only loans with a balloon payment at the end; so they will contain a major part of the interest but a small portion of the principal would also be paid over time. For example, out of the first monthly payment of $865, about $758 would be contributed towards the interest and the remaining $107 would go towards paying off the principal. As the months proceed this equation changes. The interest would become less and less and the amount of the payment towards the principal would go on increasing. Working out the above example further, the two hundredth payment could be something like this: the interest from the total payment of $865 would be about $526 and the principal amount would be $339. At this time, the total owed principal would go down to about $89,806. Hence, in the later years the principal is reduced faster than in the first few years.

In the three hundredth month, the situation would become something like this: out of the total monthly payment of $865, the interest amount would be $258 and the principal amount would be $607. The remainder of the principal owed would fall down to $43,682. In the second last payment, only about $10 will be towards the interest while a huge chunk of the payment – $855 – would go towards the principal. In the last payment, there will be no portion going towards the interest amount at all.

So the above example amply illustrates how the monthly payment works towards decreasing the principal and providing for the interest over time. While amortization, the person would begin by paying off the interests and end by paying off the principal amount.

Even after this, several people could find it difficult to calculate the numbers pertaining to amortization. But there is no need to fear on that count too. It is better to calculate the amounts of payments on the loans beforehand so that the family is in a better position to calculate the monthly budget. The foreign exchange market, or Forex market, is an around-the-clock cash market where the currencies of nations are bought and sold.

Forex trading is always done in currency pairs. For example, you buy Euros, paying with U.S. Dollars, or you sell Canadian Dollars for Japanese Yen. The value of your Forex investment increases or decreases because of changes in the currency exchange rate or Forex rate. These changes can occur at any time, and often result from economic and political events. Using a hypothetical Forex investment, this article shows you how to calculate profit and loss in Forex trading.

To understand how the exchange rate can affect the value of your Forex investment, you need to learn how to read a Forex quote. Forex quotes are expressed in pairs and usually in five-digit numbers. In the following example, your pair of currencies are the U.S. Dollar (USD) and the Canadian Dollar (CAD). The Forex quote, USD/CAD = 170.50, means that one U.S. Dollar is equal to 170.50 Canadian Dollars. The currency to the left of the "/" (USD in this example) is referred to as base currency and its value is always 1. The currency to the right of the "/" (CAD in this example) is referred to as the counter currency. In this example, one USD can buy 170.50 CAD, because it is the stronger of the two currencies. The U.S. Dollar is regarded as the central currency of the Forex market, and it is always treated as the base currency in any Forex quote where it is one of the pairs.

Let's go now to our hypothetical Forex investment to show how you can profit or come up short in Forex trading. In this example, your pair of currencies are the U.S. Dollar and the Euro. The Forex rate of EUR/USD on August 26, 2003 was 1.0857, which means that one U.S. Dollar was equal to 1.0857 Euros, and was the weaker of the two currencies. If you had bought 1,000 Euros on that date, you would have paid $1,085.70.

One year later, the Forex rate of EUR/USD was 1.2083, which means that the value of the Euro increased in relation to the USD. If you had sold the 1,000 Euros one year later, you would have received $1,208.30, which is $122.60 more than what you had started with one year earlier.

Conversely, if the Forex rate one year later had been EUR/USD = 1.0576, the value of the Euro would have weakened in relation to the U.S. Dollar. If you had sold the 1,000 Euros at this Forex rate, you would have received $1,057.60, which is $28.10 less than what you had started out with one year earlier.

As with stocks and mutual funds, there is risk in Forex trading. The risk results from fluctuations in the currency exchange market. Investments with a low level of risk (for example, long-term government bonds) often have a low return. Investments with a higher level of risk (for example, Forex trading) can have a higher return. How To Paint A Ceiling

Before starting anything, you should know first what color to use. Know your basic color scheme. The color of your ceiling should compliment the color of your floor and walls. If you want a harmonious, unbroken look in the room, you could use the same color for the walls and ceiling. Imagine how your color will match to your furniture or furnishing.

Low ceilings sometimes give an oppressive feeling, while a high ceiling can give an airy and light feeling because of the large space. If you have a low ceiling but want to have it heightened, you could try a very pale color to make it recede, like the shades of sky blue. Use also a different but lighter color than what is used on the walls.

Usually, white is the color commonly used in painting ceilings. The main reason for this is because it reflects light very well and it goes with everything. But for a change, try to go beyond white. Choose another shade that will go with your decor and the rest of the room.

Contrary to the tradition, white can actually make a ceiling look more distant in rooms with lofty, high ceilings and lower with those who have low ceilings. If you have ceilings higher than eight feet, have a shade or two that are darker than the wall color. If it is eight feet high or lower, use shade or two that are lighter than your walls. This can add coziness to high-ceilinged rooms and give an illusion of space to rooms with low ceilings.

Before painting, make sure you cover your walls with a drop cloth. Remove also the curtains and pictures on your walls; surely you don't want them to be wasted. Remove also your furniture so you can have a clear access to the room in all points.

If you are about to paint the ceiling, start from the corner farthest from the door. Use a trim brush to apply paint on the ceiling edges along with the wall-ceiling edge. Try to finish the painting of ceiling in each room plane in one painting session. This is because if you allow sections of the ceiling to dry at different times, this may cause visible lap marks.

It will be simpler and easier to use a roller when painting a ceiling than using a large brush. If you have a low ceiling, you can just use a handler extender so that you won't need a ladder.

If your ceilings are textured, though it will take more time, be sure to have the area well covered. You can use a thick nap roller to ensure that you cover all the bumps and irregularities.

Most ceilings don't line up with the walls perfectly, this can make the paint-lines uneven especially if the ceiling color is different from the wall. If you have problem like this, use your wall-color paint to paint the strip along the ceiling where it meets the wall to conceal imperfection. This strip of wall-color paint will give an illusion that your walls and ceilings are line-up straight.

Many allotment sites use the calendar year, or start at other times- but it’s worth contacting them at any time of the year to see if they have any vacancies, or a waiting list.

The key to long-term success with an allotment is to be realistic about how much you can tackle. Take things slowly planning to do less than the maximum. It will take several years to get things as you would like them. The whole point about allotmenting is that it should be recreational, fun even, for everyone involved. It shouldn’t be a chore- and it doesn’t have to be a competition with your neighbour!

Tools and Equipment.
If you don’t already have a collection of gardening tools, take time to choose what you need for the allotment. Always handle a tool before purchase so you know that you are comfortable with it. Handle length is crucial for spades, folks, hoes and rakes. Look out for longer or shorter handles if necessary.

Heat problems dogs experience usually come from heat stress, which results from too much exposure to high temperatures, or from heatstroke, which is also from too much sun but with high humidity levels. If the dog has lost a lot of fluids and does not rehydrate it may cause it to experience cellular breakdown, heart failure and even brain damage.

There are some dogs which are more prone to internal injuries because of heat stress and heatstroke. If your dog has cardiovascular conditions, or respiratory issues, overweight, or is short-nosed buried, it may experience damage three times faster than other dogs.

Pay attention and care to your dog if it tends to stay out long in the hot weather, and look out for signs that show that it may be suffering from heat conditions.

-When your dog staggers instead of walking properly.

-When he pants more than usual, with a slight rasp.

-When he looks overtly anxious with a delirious expression.

-Warm skin as well as dry.

-Weak and restless behaviour.

-Having a temperature of over 104°F.

-Watch for inappropriate salivation in his mouth.

-Diarrhea and vomiting symptoms.
