its banks seasonally. Now it no longer does because of damming. Water
levels that have been lowered by dams are also threatening the wildlife.
The river itself carries pollutants downstream, further threatening the
fish and native wildlife around the river's ecosystem. Parts of the Rio
Grande have dried up for the first time since 1955, and the low levels
caused by dams are not helping any. Some campsites have disappeared, and
river trips are becoming increasingly difficult when sections of the

pristine condition, and the battle between nature's splendor and man's

Though the word ‘amortization’ may not specifically be used, the act of amortization could be very well going on in your own home right now.

In fact, amortization is the financial term for the very common process of paying off a loan. People take loans for several purposes – homes, cars, education, personal reasons, whatever – and when they set out to pay these loans back to the lenders on equated monthly installments, then it is said to be amortization. So, amortization is the tool with which a borrower is gradually snuffing out the loan till it is owed no more.

Calculating the amount of payments on a mortgage is a very simple task to do. Any borrower could calculate this amount with the slightest amount of mathematical skills. Suppose a home was bought for $150,000 and the person put down a deposit of $20,000. In that case, an amount of $130,000 is still owed. Consider the rate of interest to be 7% and the loan to be borrowed over a thirty year period. In that case, the amount of $130,000 divided by 30 plus the interest at the rate of 7% comes to something like $865. This would be considered to the monthly payment over the period of amortization.

With all amortization payments, the initial payments will have a higher proportion of the interests. However, amortization payments are not interest-only loans with a balloon payment at the end; so they will contain a major part of the interest but a small portion of the principal would also be paid over time. For example, out of the first monthly payment of $865, about $758 would be contributed towards the interest and the remaining $107 would go towards paying off the principal. As the months proceed this equation changes. The interest would become less and less and the amount of the payment towards the principal would go on increasing. Working out the above example further, the two hundredth payment could be something like this: the interest from the total payment of $865 would be about $526 and the principal amount would be $339. At this time, the total owed principal would go down to about $89,806. Hence, in the later years the principal is reduced faster than in the first few years.

In the three hundredth month, the situation would become something like this: out of the total monthly payment of $865, the interest amount would be $258 and the principal amount would be $607. The remainder of the principal owed would fall down to $43,682. In the second last payment, only about $10 will be towards the interest while a huge chunk of the payment – $855 – would go towards the principal. In the last payment, there will be no portion going towards the interest amount at all.

So the above example amply illustrates how the monthly payment works towards decreasing the principal and providing for the interest over time. While amortization, the person would begin by paying off the interests and end by paying off the principal amount.

Even after this, several people could find it difficult to calculate the numbers pertaining to amortization. But there is no need to fear on that count too. There are a lot of free amortization calculators available on several websites. It is better to calculate the amounts of payments on the loans beforehand so that the family is in a better position to calculate the monthly budget. The foreign exchange market, or Forex market, is an around-the-clock cash market where the currencies of nations are bought and sold.

Forex trading is always done in currency pairs. For example, you buy Euros, paying with U.S. Dollars, or you sell Canadian Dollars for Japanese Yen. The value of your Forex investment increases or decreases because of changes in the currency exchange rate or Forex rate. These changes can occur at any time, and often result from economic and political events. Using a hypothetical Forex investment, this article shows you how to calculate profit and loss in Forex trading.

To understand how the exchange rate can affect the value of your Forex investment, you need to learn how to read a Forex quote. Forex quotes are expressed in pairs and usually in five-digit numbers. In the following example, your pair of currencies are the U.S. Dollar (USD) and the Canadian Dollar (CAD). The Forex quote, USD/CAD = 170.50, means that one U.S. Dollar is equal to 170.50 Canadian Dollars. The currency to the left of the "/" (USD in this example) is referred to as base currency and its value is always 1. The currency to the right of the "/" (CAD in this example) is referred to as the counter currency. In this example, one USD can buy 170.50 CAD, because it is the stronger of the two currencies. The U.S. Dollar is regarded as the central currency of the Forex market, and it is always treated as the base currency in any Forex quote where it is one of the pairs.

Let's go now to our hypothetical Forex investment to show how you can profit or come up short in Forex trading. In this example, your pair of currencies are the U.S. Dollar and the Euro. The Forex rate of EUR/USD on August 26, 2003 was 1.0857, which means that one U.S. Dollar was equal to 1.0857 Euros, and was the weaker of the two currencies. If you had bought 1,000 Euros on that date, you would have paid $1,085.70.

One year later, the Forex rate of EUR/USD was 1.2083, which means that the value of the Euro increased in relation to the USD. If you had sold the 1,000 Euros one year later, you would have received $1,208.30, which is $122.60 more than what you had started with one year earlier.

Conversely, if the Forex rate one year later had been EUR/USD = 1.0576, the value of the Euro would have weakened in relation to the U.S. Dollar. If you had sold the 1,000 Euros at this Forex rate, you would have received $1,057.60, which is $28.10 less than what you had started out with one year earlier.

As with stocks and mutual funds, there is risk in Forex trading. The risk results from fluctuations in the currency exchange market. Investments with a low level of risk (for example, long-term government bonds) often have a low return. Investments with a higher level of risk (for example, Forex trading) can have a higher return. Before starting anything, you should know first what color to use. Know your basic color scheme. The color of your ceiling should compliment the color of your floor and walls. If you want a harmonious, unbroken look in the room, you could use the same color for the walls and ceiling. Imagine how your color will match to your furniture or furnishing.

Low ceilings sometimes give an oppressive feeling, while a high ceiling can give an airy and light feeling because of the large space. If you have a low ceiling but want to have it heightened, you could try a very pale color to make it recede, like the shades of sky blue. Use also a different but lighter color than what is used on the walls.

Usually, white is the color commonly used in painting ceilings. The main reason for this is because it reflects light very well and it goes with everything. But for a change, try to go beyond white. Choose another shade that will go with your decor and the rest of the room.

Contrary to the tradition, white can actually make a ceiling look more distant in rooms with lofty, high ceilings and lower with those who have low ceilings. If you have ceilings higher than eight feet, have a shade or two that are darker than the wall color. If it is eight feet high or lower, use shade or two that are lighter than your walls. This can add coziness to high-ceilinged rooms and give an illusion of space to rooms with low ceilings.

If you are about to paint the ceiling, start from the corner farthest from the door. Use a trim brush to apply paint on the ceiling edges along with the wall-ceiling edge. Try to finish the painting of ceiling in each room plane in one painting session. This is because if you allow sections of the ceiling to dry at different times, this may cause visible lap marks.

It will be simpler and easier to use a roller when painting a ceiling than using a large brush. If you have a low ceiling, you can just use a handler extender so that you won't need a ladder.

If your ceilings are textured, though it will take more time, be sure to have the area well covered. You can use a thick nap roller to ensure that you cover all the bumps and irregularities.

Most ceilings don't line up with the walls perfectly, this can make the paint-lines uneven especially if the ceiling color is different from the wall. If you have problem like this, use your wall-color paint to paint the strip along the ceiling where it meets the wall to conceal imperfection. This strip of wall-color paint will give an illusion that your walls and ceilings are line-up straight.

If the dog has lost a lot of fluids and does not rehydrate it may cause it to experience cellular breakdown, heart failure and even brain damage.

There are some dogs which are more prone to internal injuries because of heat stress and heatstroke. If your dog has cardiovascular conditions, or respiratory issues, overweight, or is short-nosed buried, it may experience damage three times faster than other dogs.

Pay attention and care to your dog if it tends to stay out long in the hot weather, and look out for signs that show that it may be suffering from heat conditions.

-When your dog staggers instead of walking properly.

-When he pants more than usual, with a slight rasp.

-When he looks overtly anxious with a delirious expression.

-Warm skin as well as dry.

-Weak and restless behaviour.

-Having a temperature of over 104°F.

-Watch for inappropriate salivation in his mouth.

Your First eBook And How To Write It!

Without any shadow of doubt, if you ask any writer what is the hardest part of what they do, they are likely to tell you that writing the first sentence is the most difficult bit.

Before you start, when you are looking at the whole project, it’s like sitting at the bottom of a very tall mountain. But, the fact is that the mountain is there to be climbed and, no matter how tough it is, it CAN be climbed, step by step.

Writing an eBook is no different. A daunting, perhaps even scary task before you set out on your journey, but one that will get progressively easier as you become more and more skilled at dealing with the task in hand. Like the mountain, it’s a step by step process, sometimes laborious, sometimes inspiring, until one day you arrive and the “summit” and write your last word!

The first thing that you need to do before you attempt to write one single word is to get organized.

Start out by coming up with a few potential ideas for the title of your book. Simply write down everything that comes into your head an eventually, you’ll find what you are looking for.

One thing that helps me with titles is to try and think of them when I am NOT at my computer. If you try to think of titles when driving your car, taking the train or digging the garden, the different perspective of your surroundings will often generate title ideas that are really original!

Aim for a title that tells your potential reader what the book is about, whilst also being intriguing enough to make him or her want to know more. For example, use words like “secrets” or “hidden”, to imply that there is more than the title is telling them.

Have a clear picture in mind of who your target audience for the book is and try to “connect” with that audience in your title.

For example, if your eBook is about gardening, which tends to be a more mature persons hobby, a title like “Yo, dude, dig that lawn” whilst undoubtedly pretty “trick” and clever, would be a complete waste of time!

Next, write a two to three sentence outline for you eBook. What is the problem and how your book will solve it is basically what you are after here.

The purpose of this is to keep you focused. At all times, make sure that everything that you are writing supports the ideas and proposition that you are putting forward in your book.

Also, this outline will stop you wandering off down “blind alleys”, writing about stuff that, whilst it may be very interesting or informative, in fact, it does nothing to support what you are writing about.
Such “off topic” meanderings in eBooks are very common, and are often known as “fluff, “filler” or (more succinctly) “BS”! Fill your eBook with this stuff, and the reader will pretty quickly cotton on to the fact that you don’t really have much to say, and the amount of people asking for their money back will be depressingly high!

This brings us to the most crucial question that you must ask yourself, as unemotionally and in as detached manner as you can possibly manage.

Is it really worth writing your eBook at all?

Is your idea big enough to fill a book, or is it just an article stretched out to the maximum? Are you genuinely imparting new knowledge or perhaps old knowledge presented in a new and refreshing way?

In other words, will someone who bys your eBook get value from it?

Only you can decide this before you write the book but you must be self-critical to the max, because, as sure as eggs is eggs, the people who buy your book will be!

Will your book contain genuinely useful information and is that information right up to date. It’s amazing the number of eBooks that come to the market spouting stuff that was working last year as “the latest thing”!

Can your book positively affect the lives of your readers? If so, how, and how easy or difficult is it to act on your ideas and suggestions?

Is your book a good read, one that will retain the attention of the reader?

If you can, with hand on heart, answer yes to these questions, then you sound like you have something worth getting out there, so start writing!

Remember what we said earlier about the title? Aim it as specifically as possible at your target market? The same goes for every word of your eBook. Do NOT try to aim your book at “everyman” – target your market, never lose sight of who that person is and aim every word you write at them.

For example, going back to our earlier example, your eBook is about gardening. Try to think of someone you know who enjoys their garden and aim every word at that specific person. In fact, give them the first copy to read when the eBooks finished – I’ll guarantee that they will come up with many useful additions for you!

Think about why you are writing the book in the first place. What is it that you want to achieve by doing so? Are you planning to sell it from a website, or give it away as a free gift, trying to collect names for a list? Are you planning to split it up into separate modules to give away as an e-course?

Perhaps you just want to use it to help establish your credentials as an expert in your chosen field?

Only you can answer this one.

Aim at all times to make your writing as engaging and interesting as possible.

Use real life examples, stories, anecdotes, testimonials, illustrations and pictures to break up your “message” into bite-sized hunks. Keep our sentences short, and aim to write reasonably informally and in a friendly manner. You are not attempting to write a classic of literature and an informal, relaxed style tends to work best.

Don’t expect to be a great writer straight out of the box. Many people approach writing their first eBook never having written anything more than emails since they left school, and writing needs practice.

Once you begin writing, try to target a minimum amount of writing that you will do every day, so that you can get into a rhythm. Personally, I would strongly suggest that you do not begin every day by going back and reading what you did yesterday. Doing this, you end up wasting your time “editing” your work and this is a job that you should leave until the first full drat of your book is complete.

Remember that I just suggested that you should not aim to write a literary masterpiece?

Bear this in mind when you are formatting your book. Whilst written books often tend to have a fairly high percentage of the page covered in type, your eBook will sometimes be read onscreen, and therefore there have to be plenty of white areas to avoid straining the reader’s eyes!

Use plenty of bulleted lists. This highlights the points that you are trying to make in a way that is particularly easy to absorb and comprehend.

Pick an easy to read font (I tend to use Verdana) and make sure that the spacing between lines make the pages of your eBook comfortable to read, even on the smallest PC screen.

Spell check the whole thing, but don’t rely on it totally. Type in “an” when you meant “and” and the spellchecker may well miss it (it is a word, after all) but it could make your sentence nonsensical, and lead your reader off in completely the wrong direction!

Proof read it at least a couple of times, and then get someone else to do the same. Absolutely, totally guaranteed that they will pick up errors that you missed (I used to proof read for a leading English school in Japan, so I know what I am talking about!)

Finally, compile the book itself. The most widely accepted format for such publications are PDF files, and these also allow you to publish your book with in-built security features, so that people cannot, for example, copy and past your work.
If you need a great free tool for creating PDF files, do a search for PrimoPDF. I use their PDF creator tool all he time, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

Once it’s in PDF format, that’s it, you’re done.

Great job – you are now a full fledged member of the eBook writer’s guild (or, you would be, if I hadn’t just made that up!).

Your Nose Is For Breathing Your Mouth Is For Eating

There are several reasons why it is obvious that your nose is designed to be breathed through. Firstly, your nose is like an air conditioner for your lungs. Air that passes through your nose on the way to your lungs is filtered by the nose. Your nose will massively reduce the amount of dust, pollens, bacteria, virus, or anything else that is floating in the air.

These things would cause major problems if there were allowed to flow straight down into the lungs. The nose is designed to handle them. It is your first line of defense. If you breathe through your mouth you do not use these defenses.

Secondly, in this airconditioner, the air that is brought to your lungs via your nose has been in your body slightly longer, and so is brought closer to your body temperature. Your lungs do not like temperature extremes. Nose breathing reduces the problem.

Your airconditioner also works to increase the humidity of the air that reached your lungs. Your lungs like the air to be clean not too hot or cold, and very humid. Air that is taken in via the mouth is far drier on reaching the lungs than air via the nose.

Dry Lungs

It is probably this information about the lungs needing moistened air that led to earlier theories of asthma based on the lungs "drying out", and the development of "vaporizers" which are designed to put moisture in the air in your house or room to stop this "drying out". These machines do appear to have a small impact, but only if you breathe through your mouth. If you breathe through your nose, you have an automatic humidifier built in, and do not need them.

This "moisture factor" was also believed for a while to be why asthmatics who took up swimming often benefited, whereas running or jogging less frequently seemed to help. This has been debunked now by further research.

Of course, you and I now understand why swimming is more likely to reduce asthma it alters your breathing pattern. You have to stop breathing for a while when your face is underwater, plus because you are burning energy you are producing more CO2, so you can train your breathostat to accept a slightly higher level. Swimming does not appear to help some asthmatics probably because they overbreathe even more as they swim.

The other reason that your nose is for breathing is that because the nasal passages are far smaller than your mouth, you are forced to breathe less. You have to work a lot harder to overbreathe with your mouth closed. You can still do it it is just a little harder. In addition, nasal breathing allows the extra defense of the swelling of your nasal passages to reduce the airflow. The only reason you nose blocks up is because the shortage of CO2 causes the smooth vessels to swell, just the same as in "asthma".

If you keep your mouth closed, your nose will help reduce your airflow for you.
Note: Your nose will not block completely unless your mouth is open.
It may whistle and carry on, but remember the more it is blocked, the more CO2 is trapped in, which will tell it to open again.

If you are experiencing a blocked or partially blocked nose now, experiment with your breathing to make it get more blocked [release CO2 by breathing more deeply at the same speed].

Then, make it get less blocked by breathing less deeply, or just hold your breath for several seconds [pinch your nostrils closed] longer than is comfortable and breathing as little as possible through your nose after you breathe.

In brief, all you have to do is trap in more CO2 than you release, just as you will do to stop asthma.

If your nose being blocked is preventing you from closing your mouth and becoming a healthier nasal breather right now, then unblock it with the following procedure. Then keep your mouth closed! When you first convert from a "mouth-breather", you may find that it feels like you are not getting enough air. This is a good sign, and means will benefit almost immediately. Simply put up with it, it will pass as you progress into your shallow breathing exercises.

Be aware of yourself trying to "sneak" a mouth breath by chewing a pencil or a finger, or yawning more than a couple of times. If you do start to yawn madly and repeatedly, repress it a little and keep your mouth closed. An occasional yawn is to be enjoyed, stretch and make a good yawning "noise" it is good for stress relief.

To unblock your nose right now. You need some extra CO2, so after a small out breath, pinch your nostrils closed and hold your breath. [Your mouth is obviously closed at this time.] Hold until about 5 seconds after you have developed the feeling that you want to take a breath [not need a breath], release your nostrils and allow only a little breathing to occur through your nose. Keep the CO2 in! It will be at least a tiny bit clearer. If it is still very blocked, repeat the process several times with about 5 seconds between each hold. Really restrict your breathing. Be like a statue and don't move. [Keep your mouth closed!]
It may block up again as your breathing tries to increase to its previous level, but that is OK, just repeat the procedure. All you have to do is trap in a little more of the CO2 you are producing inside you.

A different way to do this is to keep breathing at the same level but increase your CO2 production. You can do this by standing, and without increasing your breathing, march on the spot. In a very short time you will feel your nose starting to clear, once it is clear, stop and restrict your breathing to keep the CO2 in.

If you become breathless while marching, stop and reduce your breathing, it will mean you have unconsciously increased your breathing, and have actually lost more CO2.

Goodbye To Nasal Sprays and Pills

You now have the ability to unblock your nose at any time without drugs or surgery. If you follow why it blocks up, you can reverse the process. The same procedure will also dry it up.

The Best Reason To Keep Your Mouth Closed

The final reason that you should breathe through your nose is most important reason to many. I find that the most compelling reason for teenagers and children is how you look when you wander around with your mouth hanging open.

Take a moment now to think about the movies. In a good young people's movie there will be a "good guy", a "main bad guy", and usually a herd of not-too-bright "assistant bad guys". The main goodie and baddie are smarter, and the actors who play them will keep their mouths shut. However, the actors who play the dumb ones will automatically begin to "mouth-breathe". We will automatically subconsciously associate a lower intellect with a mouth hanging open.

Try it yourself. Pretend you are really stupid. Is your mouth open or closed? Now be "cool" [or whatever the current word is Rad? Kewl? ], and close your mouth........or look dumb.
